From 2002 to 2005 Akio was the Senior Director & CTO at Macromedia Japan. In 2005 Akio spent less than a year as the Vice-president and technology advisor to the CEO at Macromedia Inc. From 2005 to 2008 he was the Director at Emerging Market Investments (Adobe Systems Inc.). Since June 2008, Akio has been the Co-founder and Managing Partner at Headline Asia (formerly Infinity Venture Partners.)

Akio has deep knowledge in the technology sector in Japan and has been a vital mentor to Orbit Startups.
