Marvin Lai is Chief Investment Officer of Cyberport Macro Fund where he headed the development and investments of Cyberport Macro Fund as well as the cultivation of its investors network. Lai has over 30 years of experience in financial services (VC&PE), technologies, and consumer sectors. He serves as Expert-in-Residence (EIR) of Chinaccelerator and was also the Managing Partner of iTM Ventures Inc, in association with Burgeon Group Consulting Ltd., Executive Director of Hong Kong Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (HKVCA), and Associate Professor in Practice at Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management (Tsinghua SEM). Lai oversaw iTM-Burgeon’s principal investment and management consulting businesses.

Prior thereto, Lai served as Senior Partner of ES Capital (now OES Capital) and Senior Advisor of LionRock Capital (HK) where he spearheaded ES Capital’s Asian Principal Investments and Advisory and private placement opportunities as well as LionRock’s origination and strategic investments. Marvin began his career at IBM and AT&T Bell Laboratories.

Lai is Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors (FHKIoD), Professional Manager (PMgr) designated by HKMA, Member of Hong Kong Securities and Investments Institute (MHKSI), Director of the Board of Hong Kong Business Angel Network (HKBAN), Angel-in-Residence (AiR) of Tsinghua X-Lab, Past President of Columbia University Hong Kong Alumni Association and INSEAD Hong Kong Alumni Association, and Assistant Governor (2013-2014) of Rotary International District 3450.

Lai holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University and Johns Hopkins University, respectively; M.Sc. in Financial Management from University of London; M.A. in Management Research from Macquarie University (MGSM); and EMBA degrees from INSEAD and Beijing Tsinghua University (Tsinghua SEM).
